How To Build Trust In Business - Do Your Customers Trust You?

Trust In Business Needs To Be Earned

Do not underestimate the global changes in the way people think and act. Everything has changed. Trust has never been thinner. Trust in business has never been a harder fight.

In today’s world, customers want to trust you, but trust needs to be earned in business. This means jumping on the green bandwagon or claiming to be part of the ‘saving the planet’ economy really isn’t enough to convince anyone that is what you’re actually doing.

So when I say trust needs to be earned this actually means your customer will trust you when you have earned their trust not just shown it on your website in a hastily written paragraph.

This doesn’t mean you’re not doing those things, rather it means, your consumers will only believe you are doing them when you share or fully reveal what’s really taking place in the background.

In other words, what are your credentials for making your claims? What are your actual processes in place? Is what you’re doing sustainable and adaptable in a very fast-changing world?

The solution for you to earn trust is to tell more, speak more and show more of what you do.

Five Ways You Can Build Trust In Business

  1. Tell your story.

Your story could be the greatest asset you own right now. Buyers love stories. Readers love stories. We all grew up on stories. Storytelling your business is the most powerful tool you can harness right now to build more trust in your business.

2. Being authentic wins trust in business

Share who or what you really are in your business. Share your mistakes, your darker sides but ultimately reveal a triumphant approach to business.

3. Be interesting

No one likes a bore. Make sure your story is interesting, compelling and engaging.

4. Be current but for all the right reasons.

If you’re going to save the planet don’t use that as a sig file. Make sure you set out the details of why and how. People want to know you’re the real deal.

5. Get your customers involved.

Your customers have a need to be part of something. They are human. They want to be part of what you have to offer. Create something where they can be as involved as possible. I noticed H&M shops now allow their customers to take in their old clothes as part of saving the world. H&M loves it. The customers are involved.

There are many things you can do to build trust in your business but there are five ways to get you started.

You must reveal more, share more, give more and reveal more.

Are you doing that?

Have you revealed what is really taking place in the background or are you just another line of marketing copy designed to be part of the current conversation?

In other words; ‘They’re all saying this so we should say it also’

Your consumers don’t trust you until you’ve earned that trust.

Have you earned the trust of your customers or are you simply hoping they will trust you?
